Other | Died -- At the Poor Asylum Saturday the 17th, Ad Wise, aged 46 years, after suffering untold agonies from long indulgence in liquor. At one time, he was one of the best mechanics in town. Born in Pennsylvania. Blacksmith; lived in Harrison Twp. and in Martinsville. Married in Morgan Co., Ind. on Sept. 1, 1859. Father of: Hannah J., Mary J., George W. and Alice. [From the Morgan Co. Gazette for March 14, 1857: "James M. Sloan was killed in a fight with James Burns; they had been drinking together...Also named were Peter Early and Adam Wise, both described as doggery-keepers."] [Same newspaper, July 9, 1857 issue: "Adam S. Wise, who was indicted by the Grand Jury as an accessory to the murder of James M. Sloan, has been granted bail."] [Same newspaper, Nov. 19, 1857 issue: "In the case of the State vs. Adam S.
