| Other | Benjamin Watson, a well known citizen of Clay Township, died last Saturday. The cause of death is attributed to congestion of the brain induced by the excessive use of liquor. He leaves a widow and 3 children. [From the Martinsville Republican for Dec. 16, 1886: "From Brooklyn -- On Saturday morning, Mrs. Watson, widow of the late Ben Watson, draped the drugstore with black cloth and got a sample of whiskey which will probably be 'used against them.'"] |
