On Feb. 15, 1866, John Sims married a widow, Martha Ann (Morris) Crawford, daughter of James and Matilda (Jones) Morris. Martha Ann had been married to James C. Crawford, who died in 1861. They had one son, Edward Everett Crawford. John Sims had 6 children with Perlina: Sarah Edna, Eliza Catherine, Mary Jane, Elva A., Henrietta, and Lavinia Evelyn. He had three children with Martha Ann: Stella Maria, Nellie Matilda, and Walter M.
