| Other | Age 49. Born in 1797 in Kentucky; son of Jesse and Frances Davis Shumaker. Came to Morgan County in 1826 and settled just east of where Eminence, Indiana is now located. The area later became known as Shumaker Ridge. Married on May 15, 1823. The couple had 12 children: Ann, Jesse, Francis, William, Telitha, Elisa, Delilah, Rebecca, Mary, Elizabeth, Thomas Jr., and Jemima. At that time, the spelling of their name was Shoemaker in most instances. |
