Other	Age 71. "Maxville Shireman died Friday night and the funeral was held Sunday from his home, Southeast of this city. He was of German descent and was born near Lincolnton, Lincoln County, North Carolina, November 2nd, 1821 and moved with his parents to this county when he was 14 years of age. They settled on land now known as the 'Old Shireman Farm', East of this city. He lived with his parents [Michael and Elizabeth Shuford Shireman] until age 25 when he married Sarah Cramer and purchased a 160 acre tract. He was the father of 13 children, 10 sons and 3 daughters. Three sons have died, with the other 10 descendants living in this county. All are married except a son and a daughter. Besides his children, he leaves a wife, age 65. He was a member of the Lutheran Church." [From the Martinsville Republican for June 2, 1892: "Maxville Shireman, living Southeast of town, and the father of Henry and Luke Shireman of this city, is seriously ill."]
