"He was an old man, driving his team; they were hitched to a roller. He was rolling his own ground. His horses got frightened, ran away. The roller passed over his head and injured him in such a way he could not recover, so he died the next day." Born in Randolph Co., North Carolina in 1794; son of William and Mary D. Daugherty Rushton. Married on May 14, 1816 in Randolph County. Father of: Rachel Dorothy, William R., George Hobson, and Elizabeth Rushton.
