| Other | Born March 16, 1793 in District 96, S.C.; son of Brite and Ann Pruitt. Soldier in the War of 1812, in Capt. Bradley's Co. of NC Militia; was in the Battle of New Orleans. Married on Oct. 10, 1816 in Jefferson Co., Ky. Father of 11 children: Eliza Ann, Rev. Eli, Martha, Mary Jane, James Jr., John, Aaron, Mahala, Hannah, Esther, and Mordecai "Hick" Pruitt. He was over sixty years of age when he died of consumption. Buried in family cemetery southwest of Monrovia on State Road 42. Also buried there: Mary Polly Wilhite Pruitt (wife of James), Ben Parker (husband of Hannah, a daughter of James.) |
