| Other | On Christmas night, Tom Bailey shot and mortally wounded John O'Neal, at Taylor's store, four miles northwest of Monrovia. O'Neal died on Sunday evening [the 27th.] At the inquest, it was found that the cause of the murder was attributed to whisky, both parties being intoxicated. "Bailey is a young coward of 18 years of age, a son of a minister, who lives near Martinsville. He has three brothers, two of whom are great desperadoes, one having killed a man in Green Township, some time ago." |
