| Other | Age nearly 14 years. Killed in an explosion at the Myers saw mill on the Paragon Road. [Saw mill was owned by his father.] The boiler at the mill burst, throwing Herschel some fifty feet across the road. He was taken to the nearby home of Gorm Brown, where he died three hours later. Also killed in the explosion were his older brother, Virgil Myers, age 18, and another worker, Perry Morrison, age 23. |
