Other | A Soldier's Last Rest -- Died in this city on the morning of the 15th after a short illness, John Miller, aged 38 years. He was born in the city of Cincinnati, Ohio, and came to Martinsville, Ind. with his parents when quite young. He enlisted for the Civil War on September 1862, in Company L, 11th Indiana Regiment. [Morgan Co. Civil War Veterans says he was in Co. H, 33rd Ind.] At the Battle of Shiloh, he received a severe wound, from which he never fully recovered. He was buried at the Townsend Cemetery east of town. [Cemetery index for Townsend does not list him.] |
