| Other | Family legend has it that William Hensley, father of June, did not like Ervin, and refused to let his daughter marry him. Mrs. Hensley took pity on the young couple and wrote them a permission letter that they took with them on the Interurban trolley to Martinsville, the Morgan County seat. They were married at the court house and took the IR back north, but when they reached Brooklyn, June panicked and jumped off. Several days later they confessed themselves married, and William threw June out. |
