"She was the oldest person in Brown Township and one of the oldest people in Morgan County." [From the Diary of Anna Stanton Harvey for March 3, 1891: "Martha Mc. Cracken, Eliza Hadley's mother, died of old age, being 92 years old and the oldest person in Mooresville."] She and her husband opened their home as a boarding house which became the well-known McCracken House, later run by their son J.W. and his wife for many years. |
