Other | Son of James Madison Sr. and Martha Jane McDonald Leathers. Accidentally killed by Andrew J. Goodpasture of Mooresville. [Goodpasture was later acquitted.] "[Andrew] Jack Goodpature (sic), living on White Lick, 3 miles Southeast of that place, had a quarrel with Gowdy Leathers, a nephew of his wife. Gowdy was ordered off the property and told not to return. He did, and he was shot by Goodpature.
