Other | Age 84 years, 3 months, and 26 days. Born in Mercer Co., Kentucky on Nov. 15, 1798; daughter of Nimrod and Sarah Craig Stone. In the fall of 1819 her family moved to Indiana, settling in Morgan Co., near the Marion and Johnson county lines. She married William Landers (her sister's widower) in 1822; he was one of the earliest settlers of this part of the state. They had nine children, six of whom survive her. Three of them are well-known residents of this city (Mooresville, Ind.): Hon. Franklin Landers, John Landers, and Jackson Landers. She also raised five stepchildren, who were all quite young when she and Mr. Landers married. Mr. Landers died in 1851. She was a member of the first Baptist church organized in the area where she lived. She died at the home of her son Jackson. Buried beside her husband at the old homestead near Landersdale, on Mann Road near Waverly (Lugar farm.) |
