Johnson died at his home in Monrovia on the 14th, of typhoid pneumonia, and was buried at West Union on the 16th. He was born in Stokes County, North Carolina, February 11, 1804, and came to Indiana at the age of 25. In 1831, he entered eighty acres of land, one mile Northwest of Monrovia. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Jessup, June 26th, 1836, in Monrovia. Before coming to Morgan County, he lived with his uncle Wm. Johnson in Wayne County for about a year." |
