| Other | Born about three miles SE of Plainfield, Ind. Parents: Harmon and Martha Hiatt. Spent early life in Hendricks Co., Ind. Joined M.E. Church. Civil War veteran; joined Co. C, 70th Ind. Reg. of Infantry in July 1862. Received bayonet wound at Battle of Resaca. Discharged June 1865; moved to Morgan Co., Ind. Elected surveyor for Morgan Co. in 1882; held that office 4 years. Never married. Spent last three years of his life at the home of Mrs. Fred (Sarah) Herzog, in Mooresville, where he died at age 74 years, 9 months, and 5 days. |
