| Other | Age 82 years, 3 months, and 2 days. Died at the home of her brother-in-law, John Henley, on Monday. She was the sister of the late Samuel Hadley. [From the Diary of Anna Stanton Harvey for March 12, 1889: "Attended the funeral of Phebe Hadley, Asenath Henley's sister. Testimony was borne to her meek and patient spirit through a long life of secluded usefulness and we might say hardships. She was 83. For 3 yrs. her mind has been entirely gone, making her a great charge, especially during the last 3 months of her life, requiring watchers at night. In her mental weakness she seemed to be living her life over again with all the cares of a large family upon her, and felt a continual anxiety about the little children and would go to hunt them lest they might get hurt."] |
