(Became designer of the State Flag by winning a contest in 1916; he won first through fourth place out of some 200 entries.) Born in Indianapolis; son of Dr. Evan Hadley and Ella Quinn Hadley of Mooresville. He had three brothers: Evan, Chalmers, and Harvey. Attended Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts. Worked with stained glass and interior design. Was an instructor at Herron Art Institute for ten years. Received many honors and art awards, and was regarded as one of the best watercolor artists in the Midwest. Member of First Friends Church in Indianapolis. |
