| Other | Age 62 years, 24 days. Born Sept. 1, 1769 in North Carolina; son of Frederick Goss of Basile, Switzerland and his wife Elizabeth (Betsy) Richards/Rickard of Rowan Co., N.C. Married in Rowan Co. on March 23, 1795. They had 11 children together. Came to Indiana in 1810, settling first in Washington County. Made the first recorded settlement in Wayne Township, Owen County, in 1817. The town of Gosport was named for him. |
