Same paper, issue for Nov. 24, 1870: "In the case of the State vs. Henry Elkins, he was found guilty and sentenced to two years at the State Prison."] "Henry Elkins was born 15 October 1823, in Mercer County, Ky. He and his parents moved to Johnson County and then to Morgan County, where he tilled the soil for over 50 years. He later moved to Knox County and then to Indianapolis, where he died May 30th. He married Sarah Davis, who died some 19 years ago. Six daughters and many friends mounr his loss." |
