The family moved to Owen County [Ind.] in early days. He married Eliza Applegate 1843-44 and to them were born 13 children, 8 sons and 5 daughters...He has been a resident of Owen and Morgan Counties for most of his life except the 2 years he spent in Nebraska." After the death of his wife, "he made his home with his children and died at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Wingler, of near Herbemont."
