He was born in Morgan County 12 May 1847, and was 53 years old at the time of death. He was the son of John and Sarah (Grissom) Crank. He was the youngest of 8 children, but only 4 survive. He married Maggie J. Singleton, daughter of James and Rachel Singleton, 8 August 1867, and they had 6 children, 5 girls and 1 son, all living. His wife died over a year ago. Her parents were probably from Ireland."
