| Other | Age 74. "William Cox, an aged pioneer, committed suicide and died Saturday. He was among the last of the early pioneers in Morgan County." Born near Dayton, Ohio. Father, John Cox, built High Rock Mills in the 1820s, and operated them until 1850, when he went to California; died there the same year. Mother, Nancy Swishard Cox, died in 1843. Married Jane Mills, daughter of Judge Mills, on Feb. 21, 1847. They had six children, two of whom preceded him in death. Was a boat pilot on the White River, working on a flatboat for 20 years. |
