Other Age 86. Born in Randolph Co., North Carolina on Nov. 10, 1789; daughter of Asahel and Eutha Williams Dollarhide. Emigrated from N.C. in 1820 with first husband, and was therefore one of the earliest settlers, as well as one of the oldest citizens. Successful in accumulating property. Had preachings in home and gave ground for church and cemetery. First husband and all seven children preceded her in death. Joined M.E. Church; aided in forming the Society at Mt. Olive. "A large company of mourners followed her remains from Mooresville." Funeral preached by Rev. I.N. Thompson. Buried next to "the husband of her youth." Died of cholera morbus. [From the Morgan Co. Republican of Aug. 15, 1872: "Joseph Comer, a tender youth of 74, and Alice Cox, a dashing widow of 84 summers, were married at Mooresville one day last week."] Mother of Asa, Mary, Rachel, Alice, Larkin, Delilah, Dennis, and John B. Cox.
