Moved to Texas, and at age 36 enlisted in Women's Army Auxiliary Corps during WWII. Served in Australia, Philippine Islands, Dutch New Guinea, and also worked for military as a civilian. At the time of her death in San Antonio, Texas, in 2015, she was the oldest American female veteran of WWII. Predeceased by siblings Ethyl, Elizabeth, Mose, Kathryn, and Harry.
