| Other | Age 82. "George W. Clapper died Sunday. He was born in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. He and his parents 1st moved to Ohio and then to Marion County, Indiana. In 1844, he moved to Morgan County and was engaged to operate the grist mills on Indian Creek, Clear Creek, and at High Rock. He went into business with John W. Cox, and later married John's daughter Martha. John W. Cox went to California, and his interest in the mills was purchased by James Cox. Besides operating the grist mills, George made several flat-bottom boat trips to New Orleans. He was the oldest of 10 children, 6 boys and 4 girls; 2 of the boys have died.
