Served in the 76th Regiment of New York in the War of 1812. Moved from near Buffalo, N.Y. to Connersville, Ind. in 1819, along with the Benjamin Barnes family, across the Whetzel trace to the Bluffs at Waverly. Father of 7 sons and 2 daughters. Sons William Sanders and Oliver died young. First wife died in 1834; he then married second wife, Mary Remmington Cobb of Vermont. Mary died in 1859, and he married Amanda Holman Thacker on July 5, 1859. |
