Other | Dr. Miles J. Bradley, an old and highly esteemed citizen and well known physician of Jefferson Township, died last Saturday. Dr. Bradley was 75 years old and came to this county when quite a young man. [From the Martinsville Republican for Jan. 14, 1886: "Died But Not Forgotten -- Dr. M.J. Bradley was born in Randolph County, North Carolina, December 13th, 1810. He came to Morgan County in the fall of 1821. He worked on a farm until the year 1832, when he learned the cooper's trade, which he followed until 1838. During the 6 years he followed the cooper's trade, he studied medicine, and began his practice in 1838, continuing to practice until 1885. He was married January 22, 1834. His first wife, Eleanor, died March 6th, 1876. He afterwards married Miss Sarah Dixon, October 15th, 1876. She survives him. He was the father of 3 children; 2 still survive. He died July 11th, 1885."] Son of Jesse and Lucretia Caveness Bradley. |
