Then became a pioneer in Keokuk Co., Iowa, where he died (in Sigourney, Iowa.) He was a wagonmaker by trade. Married Charlotte House on March 28, 1839; she died 1864. Married second wife in 1871. Father of eight children, three of whom preceded him in death. Children: Elizabeth A., Kate M., Amanda J., D. Saylor, Daniel L., Charlotte E., and Charles D.
