| Other | Age 63. Born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Moved to Madison, Ind. with his mother in 1816. Moved to Morgan County in 1835, and remained here for the rest of his life. He was one of the old-time boatmen of Martinsville who took flatboats down to New Orleans. [Source: Noah Major, Pioneers of Morgan County.]He was married three times: 1) Cassa Ann "Patsy" Nutter of Martinsville, who lived but a short time; they were married in Morgan Co. on Oct. 12, 1837; 2) Catharine A. Henley of Martinsville, who died in 1864; they were married in Morgan Co. on Dec. 7, 1843; 3) Sarah Shoffner, whom he married on Oct. 20, 1867. Joined C.P. Church in Martinsville; transferred his membership to M.E. Church in 1876. [From the Diary of Elam Harvey for Oct. 12, 1877: "Macy Worthington died this morning with cancer. It commenced in one eye and eat out one side of his face and into his swallow."] |
