Other Age 81 years, 9 months, and 27 days. Parents: Absalom and Priscilla Sumner. Married Miss Boxley in Ohio, June 13, 1833; she died May 5, 1834. Taught school at Mooresville. He was the first man in the Mooresville area to make an anti-slavery speech in the days before the Civil War. Married Miss Carter on Jan. 21, 1836; they had seven children, 4 sons and 3 daughters. Five children have died: Caswell B., James O., Anna E., Hannah C., and Nancy E. Wife Jane died Feb. 22, 1888.
