Born in Orange Co., N.C.; son of Samuel and Elizabeth Anne Wilkinson McCracken. He had a cabinet shop on his farm southwest of Mooresville, where he also made coffins to order, then he became engaged in merchandise in town. He also opened his home as a boarding house; it became the well-known McCracken House. Father of: Elizabeth Ellen, J. Wilkinson, Samuel Thompson, and Susan. Son Samuel died in 1850. |
