Settled in Morgan Co., Ind. in 1828; located near the place where Hall now stands. Had a farm in Alaska, Ashland Twp., Morgan County. Was one of the oldest settlers of Morgan County. Member of Christian Church. Father of 11 children. Three of his sons served in the Union army in the Civil War: Jefferson H., Philip, and Thomas. Married first wife on Jan. 21, 1828 in Kentucky; they had 4 children: Sarah Ann, Jefferson Hezekiah, Melinda, and Elizabeth. Wife died Feb. 22, 1849. Married second wife in Indiana on Aug. 28, 1842; they had one son, Phillip. Wife died Sept. 22, 1843. Married for the third time on Dec. 28, 1843; they had 5 children: Thomas G., Henry C., William A., Perry and Laura. |
