[From the Diary of Elam Harvey for Jan. 20, 1898: "Lincoln Dickerson was killed this morning by a falling wall resulting from a fire at Spencer, Ind."] "Pierson Block, Elliott Block, and Mrs. Cline's Building Burned -- Lincoln Dickerson Killed by Falling Wall While Carrying Goods From The Meat Market...Total loss is over $30,000...Most regrettable and sorrowful of all was the death of Lincoln Dickerson, which resulted from the fall of a portion of the wall of the old Elliott Block...[his skull was] crushed by a rafter of the shed.
