Other | Age 54. "Mathias B. Collins died at his home in Martinsville Tuesday. He was born in Butler Co., Ohio and was the son of Jacob and Mary Ann (Arbuckle) Collins, natives of Pennsylvania and Virginia respectively. He married in Ohio in 1877; his mother also died in 1877. He was raised and educated in Clermont County, Ohio, and when 19 came to Indiana. He was in the 33rd Indiana Regiment [Co. I] during the Civil War. ['Libby Prison, honorably discharged.'] After the war, he settled in Bartholomew County and on the 25 March 1866, he married Minerva L. Rominger of Bartholomew County and they had 4 children: Ella Florence, Eugene Oliver, William A., and Mary Elizabeth. He came to Martinsville in 1879 and his funeral took place yesterday...from the Christian Church." |
