Other | Philip Schaub died Tuesday in the hospital in Indianapolis. He will be brought here for burial. The funeral will be conducted by the I.O.O.F. He was 80 years old, and his wife died several years ago. He and his family had moved to Indianapolis 13 to 14 years ago. He was a tanner in Martinsville for years. Born in Hessia. [From the Martinsville Republican for April 19, 1894: "In tearing down the smoke house on the Philip Schaub property, they found a head from a flagstaff, from the 22nd Regiment of Georgia, with an inscription that it was captured at Vicksburg by I.T. Gleesner, but no one knows of him."] |
