Other | John Brown, of Ashland Township, was born in Wilkes County, North Carolina, in 1804. At the age of six months, his family moved to Jessamine County, Kentucky and thence to Hardin County, Kentucky. They then moved to the northeastern part of Owen County, Indiana, October 19, 1819. On June 3rd, 1827, he married Lydia Smith, with whom he still lives. They had nine children, two of which died at an early age, leaving seven, 4 sons and 3 daughters. All four of his sons, John H., David, Samuel, and William were in the Army under Sherman. All except John H., who was killed, returned home. (Source: Morgan Co. Republican, Sept. 14, 1871.) |
