Other | Luke C. Kennedy, one of the oldest and most esteemed citizens of Lamb's Bottom in Jefferson Township, died last Monday morning, aged 81 years. He had been a citizen of this county for 55 years. In 1830, he married Miss Jane Blackford of Kentucky, who died in 1854. In 1857 he was united in marriage to Miss Isabelle Hynds of this city. His funeral occurred Tuesday afternoon, the 25th...From Paragon -- Luke Kennedy, father of doctors John and Perry Kennedy, died Sunday night. "He was born in Hardin County, Kentucky, 45 miles southwest of Louisville, August 31st, 1804. His father, Peter Kennedy, was a native of Pennsylvania and had emigrated to the state of Kentucky in 1780, at the age of 12; he was soon captured and held by the Indians almost 9 years. Luke came to Morgan County in 1828, purchasing land, then returning to Kentucky. He leased the land for 2 years to Benjamin Marshall. In 1830, he married Miss Blackford in Kentucky; she died in 1854 and was the mother of 7 living children. They left Kentucky in 1830, coming through Martinsville, which at that time had only 2 stores. On January 24, 1858, Luke married Miss Belle Hynds. The family of Mr. Kennedy was by his first wife, which consisted of 8 children, 7 sons and 1 daughter. One son died in infancy and another in the Civil War. In all, 5 sons were in the Union Army.
