Born March 10, 1779 in Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, Virginia; son of Richardson Hensley (1748-1823) and Winnifred Berryman, daughter of William Berryman and Rebecca Vowels, who married in 1743. He and his brother Berryman Hensley fought in the War of 1812 while living in Virginia. Married on March 16, 1800 in Shelby Co., Kentucky. Father of 8 children: Delilah, Susannah, Mahala, Mary (Polly), Bloomfield, Richardson, James, and Elizabeth Ann. [Cemetery index indicates that tombstone gives date of death as Oct. 26, 1868.] |
