Other	Age 83. "Mrs. Anne Mitchell, widow of Samuel Moore Mitchell, died this afternoon at her home. Anne Sandy was born at Gosport, Owen County, 2 October 1821. When quite young, she married William H. Eslinger. In 1849, as the bride of Samuel M. Mitchell, she came to Martinsville and was the affectionate mother to his two orphaned children. He died about 12 years ago [July 1892] and she has continued to live in their place, known as 'The Wilderness.' She has lived there about 40 years and this is where her oldest daughter lives, Mrs. Myron Dickson. Dr. Giles M. Mitchell, the oldest son from her second marriage, died several months ago." [The Martinsville Daily Reporter for Aug. 11, 1905 has a story about Mrs. Mitchell's funeral.]
