| Other | Age 46. "From Waverly -- Mr. Albert Johnson, a prominent young man of Johnson County, was on last Thursday at 3 o'clock P.M. married to the beautiful Miss Mary Duke, of the same county. The wedding took place at the residence of the bride's father, James Duke." "Notice of the marriage of Miss Mary Duke, near Waverly, appeared in the Republican a couple of weeks ago. The bride died Wednesday of last week, just two weeks from her marriage day." "Mrs. Mary Johnson was born June 26th, 1832. Her father, Mr. George Duke, died several years ago, but her mother, Mrs. Mary Duke, though aged, survives. Two brothers, John and Jacob Duke, preceded her in death. The latter sacrificed his life for his country. His resting place is Louisiana; his inscription: Unknown U.S. Soldier...She was united in marriage to Mr. Johnson April 3rd, 1879, and died April 16th. Her illness was erysipelas. She was a member of the M.E. Church." |
