| Other | Age 76 years, 3 months and 25 days. "Born in Rowan Co., N.C.; daughter of Ephraim [the founder of Gosport] and Ann Goss. She was one of 9 brothers and sisters, of which two survive. Her parents moved from North Carolina to Washington Co., Ind. in 1810, and in 1817 moved to near the present site of Gosport. At this time, there was a small white settlement on Clear Creek in Monroe County; the late Samuel Dunn living near the present site of Spencer and John Hudson living some 5 or 6 miles northwest of where Gosport now is. On September 28th, 1823, being then in her 17th year, Sally married Ephraim Goss Jr., a cousin who was 10 years her senior, and to whom she bore 11 children. He died in 1849." |
