He married Parlina Byer (sic), daughter of John Byer, in 1854, and they had 6 children, 2 sons and 4 daughters, with Mrs. J.D. Cain the only one still living." [From the Martinsville Republican for Jan. 31, 1895: "A.J. LaFary received a telegram about the death of his son, Dr. John S. LaFary of Pittsburg, Kansas. He was born 15 May 1855 in Green Township, and was a dentist at Iola, Kansas. His mother, a brother, and 3 sisters have died from consumption in the last 5 years. Mrs. J.D. Cain and her father, A.J. LaFary, are the only surviving members of this family."] |
