Other	Age 79 years, 11 months, 2 days. "Mrs. McCollum, who many called Granny, died Wednesday. For many years, she has made her home with her son-in-law, Martin R. Dorsett [who married Mrs. McCollum's daughter Susannah]; she died at their home. She was born in Chatham Co., N.C., 80 years ago. When quite young, she married a Mr. [Charles] Myrick, and 6 children were born to them [William, Eli, Sarah, Sylvanus, Columbus, and one other]. After he died, she married John McCollum, and with him and her children, moved to Morgan County. From her second marriage, she had 3 children [Susannah, Mary, and John] with all still living. She was buried at Mt. Tabor, next to her husband, who died about 25 years ago." [Mr. McCollum had six children with his first wife.] Polly and John married in Randolph Co., N.C. on July 7, 1843. "From Lake Valley -- Grandmother McCollum was buried Thanksgiving Day at Mt. Tabor, age nearly 80."
