She had been the childhood sweetheart of Vos Shanafelt; after he left Mooresville for Texas, she married his cousin, Bose Sheets. After she and Bose divorced, Alice worked as a milliner in Indianapolis. Vos asked her to come to Texas and marry him, so on Jan. 10, 1894, she and her children went to Texas. She and Vos were married in Weatherford, Texas. Since divorce was frowned upon at the time, his mother took Worth to Jacksboro and had his name changed to Shanafelt. Died in Bryson, Texas. |
