| Other | Age 38. Born in Morgan Co., Ind. Parents: Hezekiah and Elizabeth (Bowman) Johnson. Married Sarah Mason, of Alexandria, Missouri, daughter of Morgan and Permelia (Stevenson) Mason. Learned the carpentry trade. He and brother Jesse started west in the early 1850s, to join the Gold Rush. They made it as far as Omaha, where their entire outfit for the trip was stolen. Both brothers went to work, Jesse in Oskaloosa, Iowa and Frank in Alexandria, Missouri. At the close of the Civil War, Frank and his family returned to Morgan Co., and located on a farm near the town of Brooklyn, where he operated a sawmill. Frank went to school at West Union Quaker school. He died in 1873 in Indianapolis, during the cholera epidemic. |
