| Other | Age 66. Son of William [and Delilah] Carlisle, Sr. Attended school in Mooresville, Ind. until his father died in 1877. At the age of 15, Frank went to work caring for horses and working on various farms. Moved to Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 24. Later returned to Indiana; had a furniture business in Anderson and New Castle. In 1895, he moved back to Mooresville and established other businesses, a furniture store and undertaking. He was the first person in Mooresville to lay down cement walks in front of his business. Town treasurer, school board member, and county commissioner. Died shortly after he retired. Buried in the Lawrence/Carlisle family plot, Mooresville Cemetery. His oldest son, Milford, then took over the funeral business. Milford's oldest son, George, went into the funeral business in 1967. Then his son Sam entered the funeral business and began running the Carlisle and Son Funeral Chapel. |
