| Other | Age 75. Born in Chatham Co., N.C. Married first wife on July 10, 1838 in Randolph Co., N.C. They had 12 children together: Rebecca, William H., Emaline, Franklin, John Wesley, Joseph Lloyd, Robert, James Madison, Mary Jane, Monroe (also known as Morgan & Micajah), Thomas Jefferson, and David E. Carlisle. Serena died some time before 1867 in Mooresville, Ind. He then married Miriam Catherine Bowles Willard in 1867; she had a son, Edward, from her previous marriage. Terrill and Miriam had 2 children: Rufus and Jettie Francis Carlisle. Civil War veteran, Confederate Army: served in the Home Guard Unit in North Carolina, furnishing shoes to the soldiers, while his two oldest sons fought for the Confederacy. Both sons fought at the Battle of Bull Run. Son Franklin died of typhoid fever at Broad Run Station, Va. on Oct. 15, 1861. Died in Mooresville, Indiana. "Terrill and his sister Fannie were declared orphans on May 13, 1817 in Chatham Co., N.C., and apprenticed to a Quaker named William Lindley. On Feb. 13, 1822, a Guardian's bond was issued to John Newlin by the Chatham County Court; he was to tutor and supervise the estate of Terrill, Fannie, and their brothers William and David." "His grave is marked only with a small square concrete block marker about 5 inches square, set level with the ground. Cast into the top of the marker is 'U.S.', indicating his military service."
