| Other | Age 86. Born in Pulaski Co., Kentucky. Civil War veteran: 13 Bat. Inf. Light Art. Enlisted at the age of 15, at Somerset, Ky., in the 1st Kentucky Cavalry. "He saw a great deal of guerrilla warfare, and after taking part in many skirmishes, he fought in the battles of Cumberland Gap, Mill Springs and Lebanon. He was transferred then to the Eastern army where he fought in the battle of Gettysburg. One of the most ghastly memories of Mr. Thackery concerns three months spent in Andersonville Prison." He was present when Abraham Lincoln gave his Gettysburg Address, and shook hands with Mr. Lincoln. Mr. Thackery came to Mooresville around 1911, after living in Indianapolis and Plainfield. "His trade in Indianapolis was iron molding, but he took up farming when he moved to Plainfield and Mooresville." Lived on East Main Street.
