| Other | John Taylor, of near Indianapolis, shot and dangerously wounded his wife Julia, last Wednesday. They used to live in Centerton. "Julia Ann Taylor, formerly of this city, who was shot last week by her husband, died Wednesday at her home, 5 miles West of Indianapolis. She was the daughter of J.S. Hawk of this city." (A lengthy article about the murder trial appeared in the Republican for Dec. 12, 1889; Taylor and his daughter testified to Mrs. Taylor's allegedly "drinking and running around with other men.") Taylor was declared guilty of killing her and sentenced to 2 years in prison. |
